Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Pepcalc LLC ("Pepcalc," "we," "us") handles information in connection with the Peps mobile application (the "App") and the pepcalc.org website (the "Site").
- We do not collect, store, or sell any personal data. Peps has no accounts, no sign-in, and no first-party analytics.
- Everything you create in the App — favorites, saved protocols, weight-log entries, settings — stays on your device. We cannot see it.
- The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob. Google processes limited device data to do so; that exchange occurs between your device and Google, and we never receive it.
- A one-time Premium purchase removes ads. With Premium active, the App makes no ad requests and no ad-related data is exchanged.
Scope of this policy
This policy applies to the App and the Site, together the "Services." Peps is an educational peptide reference tool intended for adults aged 18 and over. By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy. Your use of the Services is also governed by our Terms of Use.
Information we collect
We collect none.
We do not collect, transmit, or store personal information on our servers. The App has no account system, requires no registration, and includes no first-party analytics, crash reporting, or tracking of any kind.
Information stored on your device
Content you create in the App — favorites, saved protocols, weight-log entries, and display preferences — is stored locally on your device only. It is never transmitted to us, and we have no ability to access, view, or recover it.
Information you send us voluntarily
If you email [email protected], we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use this information solely to respond to you, and we retain support correspondence only as long as needed to resolve your inquiry and maintain a record of it. We do not add support contacts to any marketing list; we operate none.
Advertising (free version)
The free version of the App displays advertising served by Google AdMob, an advertising service operated by Google LLC ("Google"). Google acts as an independent party that collects and processes data in connection with serving ads. To serve and measure ads, Google and its certified advertising partners may collect or receive limited device data, which can include:
- your device's advertising identifier (Google Advertising ID on Android; IDFA on iOS, where you have permitted tracking);
- IP address and coarse, non-precise location inferred from it;
- device and network information (model, operating system, language, mobile carrier); and
- ad interaction data (impressions, clicks, and ad performance).
This data flows directly between your device and Google. We do not receive it, do not store it, and cannot use it to identify you or connect it to anything you do in the App. Google's handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Personalized and non-personalized ads
Depending on your region, device settings, and the choices you make, ads may be personalized or non-personalized. Non-personalized ads still use limited data — such as coarse location and the content of the current session — for frequency capping and fraud prevention.
Your advertising choices
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads, where you can delete or reset your advertising ID and opt out of ad personalization.
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, where you can withhold or withdraw tracking permission for the App.
- Google account: ad personalization controls at adssettings.google.com.
- Premium: the one-time Premium purchase removes ads entirely — the App stops making ad requests altogether.
Users in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland
Where required, the App presents a consent message before any personalized advertising is served, using a Google-certified consent management platform. You may decline or limit consent and can change your choice at any time from within the App's settings. If you decline, ads shown to you are limited or non-personalized in accordance with your selection.
Premium purchases
Peps Premium is a one-time in-app purchase that permanently removes advertising. Purchases are processed entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store under their respective terms and privacy policies. We do not receive or store your name, billing address, or any payment card information. The store provides us no personal data about you in connection with a purchase. Premium's unlocked state is recorded locally on your device and with your store account for restore purposes.
How we share information
We have no personal data to sell, rent, or share, and we do not do so. The only third parties involved in the Services are:
- Google (AdMob) — advertising in the free version of the App, as described in Section 03;
- Google Play / Apple App Store — distribution and purchase processing;
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting and content delivery for the Site. Cloudflare may process IP addresses and request metadata transiently as necessary to serve the Site securely, as described in Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. We do not run analytics on this data.
We would disclose information if — and only to the extent — required by law, but because we hold no user data, there is effectively nothing for us to produce.
Legal bases (EEA & UK users)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies: we do not process your personal data as a controller, with two narrow exceptions — support correspondence you send us voluntarily (processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to you, Art. 6(1)(f)) and, where applicable, your consent choices for advertising (Art. 6(1)(a)), which are collected and honored on-device. Google acts as an independent controller for data it processes to serve ads.
US state privacy rights
Under certain US state privacy laws (including the California Consumer Privacy Act), the delivery of personalized third-party advertising may be considered "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, even though we never touch the data ourselves. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time using the device-level controls described in Section 03, or remove advertising entirely with Premium. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information. Because we hold no personal data, requests to access, correct, or delete data held by Pepcalc will generally return an empty result — but you are welcome to make one at [email protected], and it will be handled as applicable law requires. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising privacy rights.
Data retention
We retain nothing about your use of the App, because we collect nothing. Data you create in the App persists on your device until you delete it, clear the App's storage, or uninstall the App. Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to handle your inquiry, then deleted in the ordinary course.
Security
The most effective security measure is holding no data at all — a breach of our systems cannot expose personal data we never had. Data on your device is protected by your device's own security measures (passcode, biometrics, and encryption), which we encourage you to enable. The Site is served exclusively over HTTPS.
Children
The Services are intended for adults aged 18 and over and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us personal information — for example by emailing support — contact us and we will delete it.
International use
Pepcalc LLC is located in the United States. The Site is served globally via a content delivery network. Because we collect no personal data, we perform no cross-border transfers of user data. Data processed by Google for advertising may be transferred and processed as described in Google's privacy documentation.
External links
The Services may include links to third-party websites. Selecting a link opens that site in your browser. Those sites are operated by other companies under their own privacy policies and terms; we do not control them and do not share any information with them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the updated version on this page and revise the effective date above. If a future change would materially expand how data is handled — for example, if the App ever introduced accounts or analytics — we would note the change prominently in the App before it takes effect.
